Winners of this year’s Scholarships
Well another year has passes and another successful State Tournament is under our belt. Lots of good things happened this year and I am very proud of our successes.
One of the most important things is our scholarship program that we have had for several years now, and this year we had 5 applications for our two scholarships.
I am pleased to announce the winners of this year’s awards.
Ms. Kellie Crown from Cibolo Texas. Kellie is the granddaughter of Don Pierce of the San Antonio Bass Club.
Kellie writes the following: “From a young age, my parents instilled in me a desire to do my best. I used what I learned from them to study and always to do well in school. Though I could have chosen easier classes, I have taken AP and Dual Credit college classes while in high school. These include: AP World History, Dual Credit US History, AP English 3, AP Government and Economics, and AP English 4. I will be graduating with a 4.0 GPA and I'm in the top 5% of my class. I thank my parents for pushing me to work hard and for supporting me in all of my endeavors.”
Congratulations to Kellie Crown our first 2013 scholarship winner
Mr. Julian Provazek from Kingwood Texas. Julian is the grandson of Ed Parten of the Bass Busters of Houston Bass Club.
Julian writes. “My junior year In high school began like any other school year. As the school year progressed I began to think about life after high school and how I should prepare for what would ultimately end in independence. One day in the middle of my fall semester I finished what was a normal day at school but when I came home and talked with my father I realized my live would never be the same again. My dad had received an email from the head of Ministry of the Military with a proposition to move to Sicily in order to become the pastor of New Hope Ministry to the Military Center. This particular center was located just a short distance from Sigonella Navy Base and its purpose was to serve the military and soldiers that were separated from their families back home. From the moment I first heard of the offer, I knew that this is what God had planned for our family and me. After experiencing the lack of opportunity available for the people of Sicily, I have a greater sence of gratitude and a burning desire to become the very best person I can be.
Observing the passion and dedication of my grandfather for fishing and the environment has motivated me to strive to conserve the resources Texas has. His recent induction into the Texas Fishing Hall of Fame has convinced me to try and make as much difference as he has.
As the president of the Texas Association of Bass Clubs it gives me great pleasure in recognizing our 2013 winners Kellie Crown and Julian Provazek.
Congratulations, great job and God bless each of you
