TABC VISITS AUSTIN CHRISTIAN BASS CLUB
TABC Director at Large Larry Pederzani and Region 7 Director Allen Summers visited the Austin Christian Bass Club at their monthly meeting on November 15, 2007. The reason for this visit was to recognize Carlton Yarbrough for having caught the biggest bass of the TABC Top 8 Championship Tournament held September 28th and 29th on Lake Falcon. His bass weighed 10.32 pounds.
Carlton caught this bass on the second day of the tournament fishing with a Green Pumpkin finesse worm, 1/16 oz weight, and 2/0 hook with 20 lb line. He caught the bass at 8:45 A.M. and realized the live well did not work. He immediately called the Tournament Director, Ed Calderone, and asked for assistance as he did not want the bass to die. Ed sent two directors, Robert Rose and Ginger Reynolds, out to retrieve the bass which they did within 45 minutes of when it was caught. They brought the bass back to the weigh-in site where it was weighed and retained in a hospital tank until it fully recovered. The bass was released into the middle of the lake by noon.
Congratulations to Carlton Yarbrough for Big Bass of the Tournament.

We also recognized Al Lykins for his 8.3 pound bass caught on the second day of the tournament as it is his personal best at age 80. Unfortunately, Al was not in the side pot or he would have gotten the 2nd Big Bass of the day award. I asked Al of his future fishing plans. Al replied “We will see him at the next TABC Tournament and would then take it one year at a time”.
Al has become a mentor to many of us as we would all like to be catching our personal best at age 80. Congratulations Al.
